This is your outdoor retreat, after all. However you envision your yard, there’s no off-limits. Show us magazines, drawings, or describe what you picture in your head. You dream it – we bring it to life.
OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES & FIREPITS
Outdoor living is a growing trend, and for good reason. Increase the value and function of your home by expanding your living space to the outdoors. Outdoor kitchens can be constructed to include features like built-in grills, wood-fired pizza ovens, sinks, prep space, storage, and dining space. Outdoor Living rooms can include natural and gas fire pits/places, water features, and a variety of seating space options.
Fire naturally draws people together. Whether for functional purposes like cooking or warmth, or for aesthetic purposes, we can design and install the perfect fire pit for your outdoor gathering.
PATIOS AND WALKWAYS
Pavers provide versatility in design through color, pattern, texture, and finish. Pavers are installed over a flexible base and will not crack at the surface, unlike concrete or asphalt. Long-term maintenance is relatively low, and even old patios can be easily restored to look like new again.
With an increasing need for stormwater management, the applications of permeable pavers are more prevalent than ever before. Permeable pavers offer solutions to environmental concerns such as water harvesting and reducing impermeable surfaces. They are also options for drainage correction issues.
WALLS & STEPS
Walls come in many shapes and sizes and can be constructed from modular block or natural stone materials to form simple freestanding garden walls and engineered, load-bearing retaining walls.
The installation of stairs, steps and stoops provides safe and inviting access to any home or outdoor space. These hardscaping elements can be constructed from both natural and modular products to fit the design characteristics/guidelines of any landscape. Custom handrails or low-voltage landscape lighting fixtures can be integrated into the design of these components to enhance safety and functionality of your landscape.

FAQ’s
How much value does hardscaping add?
Hardscaping can significantly enhance your property’s value, often adding between 5% to 20% or more to your home’s value, depending on the quality and design of the installation. Elements like patios, walkways, and retaining walls not only improve aesthetics but also increase functionality and curb appeal, making your home more attractive to potential buyers.
What is the difference between hardscape and landscape design?
Hardscape refers to the non-plant elements of landscape design, such as patios, walkways, walls, and other structures. These elements are made from materials like stone, brick, concrete, or wood. Landscape design, on the other hand, encompasses the entire outdoor space, including both hardscape and softscape elements like plants, lawns, and trees.
How long does it take to hardscape?
The duration of a hardscaping project can vary based on its complexity and size. Simple projects like small patios or walkways might take a few days to a week, while more elaborate projects involving extensive stonework or large retaining walls could take several weeks. Weather conditions, site preparation, and material availability can also impact the timeline.
What adds more value: pavers or concrete?
Both pavers and concrete can add value, but pavers often provide a higher return on investment. Pavers are typically more customizable, come in various colors and patterns, and can be easily repaired or replaced if damaged. Concrete, while often more affordable and durable, might not offer the same aesthetic appeal and flexibility as pavers. Ultimately, the choice depends on your budget, design preferences, and long-term maintenance considerations.
How do you prepare the ground for hardscape?
Preparing the ground for hardscaping involves several key steps:
- Assessment and Design: Evaluate the area and plan the layout, including measuring and marking the site.
- Excavation: Remove existing grass, soil, or debris to reach a stable base.
- Grading: Ensure the area is level and properly sloped for drainage.
- Base Layer: Install a layer of gravel or crushed stone to provide a stable foundation and facilitate drainage.
- Compaction: Use a mechanical compactor to solidify the base and prevent settling.
- Edge Restraints: Add edge restraints to keep the hardscape elements in place and prevent shifting.
Does landscaping add value to an appraisal?
Yes, landscaping can add value to a home appraisal. Well-designed landscaping enhances curb appeal, creates a welcoming environment, and can make a property stand out in the market. Features like manicured lawns, attractive plantings, and functional outdoor spaces can positively impact the perceived value of your home. However, the extent of the added value depends on the quality of the landscaping and how well it complements the overall property.
